Samuel Langhome Clemens (1835–1910) known by his literary pen name, Mark Twain, was an American writer and humorist, he is widely considered one of the greatest American writers of all time. Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc was first published as a serialization in Harper’s Magazine beginning in April 1895. The conclusion sees the fictional biographer, Sieur Louis de Conte, end his presentation in the year 1492, where he is 82 years of age with a salute to the legacy of Joan of Arc, citing her impact on the country she loved so much.
